Dreamscape: Saving Alex…The Dream Cast

Before you look at my dream cast choices below, let me admit one thing: this book is inspired from my past, and the all-night gaming sessions of Super Mario Brothers 3 (SMB3) with my best friend. So it only makes sense that as I was writing, my own 90’s crushes and idols became the face of the characters.

Alexis Stone (Alex) –

Alex is a feisty, yet insecure sixteen year old struggling with their impending move. Unable to let go of the past, she holds onto everything… including her childhood videogame, Dreamscape. Kristen Dunst was my inspiration for this role. She portrays strength and vulnerability so well. But… since today she doesn’t quite fit into a teenage role, my contemporary actress would be Ellie Fanning.

Arrow –

Arrow is the rugged, independent heartthrob of the book. Faced with his own goal of rescuing the queen and destroying the evil empire, he must find a way to convince Alex that she is the hero they’ve been waiting for. Break out your old Teen Bop magazines, when I wrote this character, I thought of a young Ryder Strong.
And for a contemporary actor…I just couldn’t find the right one, so had to settle on Flynn Ryder. ;)

Blurb:

Sixteen-year-old Alexis Stone is used to getting away from life’s frustration with Dreamscape, a video game she’s loved since childhood. As her family prepares to move, a sleepy night of gaming pulls her into the world like never before. Trapped in Dreamscape’s realm, Alex is about to learn that being a hero has consequences… and this time, the stakes are deadly. Will helping the rebellion cost her everything she knows and loves? Or will she betray them to save her own life?
