Glitter & Glitz- A Poem

Glitter and Glitz
K.N. Lee

Glitter and glitz
Can make a plain face sparkle
Can make a dull smile shine
We crave the beauty of artificiality
And abhor the natural originality

We want acceptance
Maybe even praise
The dim recesses of our minds
Is where real confidence stays
Hidden and locked
Suppressed by the masses

We want the gems and gold of magazines
Follow the rules on the tv screens
I want love and know where to start
I want the cosmetics of the heart
