Veodue's Fire **Book Blast & Exclusive Excerpt**

We've had the pleasure of meeting author, A.J. Adwen. And now she returns to our blog during her tour of The Rain Trilogy.

I'd like to present to you all, Veodue's Fire, an intense romantic/fantasy.

Enjoy.

Veodue's Fire Blurb:

The blackness of night consumed her, but she always thought it would lift. Time does not heal all wounds. Freedom is not hers to claim. And as the months pass, she realizes she no longer wants the light at all.

The keys to her future have been seized from Lucian’s hands. The power is hers now, and it is clear that she might be the only person who can bring Veodue out of ruin. In a battle against her own flesh and blood, innocent lives weigh in the balance of her choices.

Was the Pool’s prophecy true? Will she be able to rise above the person she has become to accept what might be her only fate?

This story of betrayal, love and redemption continues in the next chapter of Raenah’s journey.

Veodue's Fire Excerpt:

My teeth grind together. “Everything you did was for you, Lucian.”

“Is that really what you think?”

“How could I not?” I stare at him in disgust. “Do you
honestly think deceiving me about Gavin was for me?”

“No,” he says. He inhales sharply. “Not at first. At first it
was because I wanted revenge against Roth. But then . . . things changed. We ch—” he fumbles with his words, something I’ve never seen him do before. “You changed me.”

I look away, unwilling to participate in this nonsense. He
takes my shoulders between his hands and his touch burns into my skin in a way that makes my throat close. “Take your hands off of me,” I say, strangled. I’m furious at the way my voice trembles; I’m furious that he drags me from my numb place without even trying.

“I was willing to sacrifice my life for you. I lost my
abilities for you. Doesn’t that mean anything? Doesn’t that prove anything?”

“It proves nothing. I loved Gavin and you ruined anything I
could have had with him.”

“You didn’t love him, Raenah. Don’t pretend you did,” he says
flatly, releasing me. “How is what I did any worse than the fact that he lied to you for sixteen years?”

“He was trying to protect me!”

“So was I!” he says harshly. “The difference is that I was
trying to protect you from danger, not from yourself. And certainly not because I couldn’t handle what you were becoming.”

I look at him again, unable to stop my hand from whipping
toward his face. He catches it midair and his nostrils flare with an
exasperated sigh. “So what, then, makes you hate me so much?”

I’m not angry that he still holds my wrist against my will;
I’m angry that I don’t have an answer for him. I’m angry that I don’t know. But above all, I loathe the tears that are flooding my eyes. “Let go, Lucian.”

“Miss?” Daryel says from behind the door. “Your bath awaits
you.”

“Thank you,” I manage as Lucian’s grip loosens enough for me
to reclaim my arm. I begin toward the door and pause before opening it. “Our union was formed on a foundation of deception,” I say quietly. “I would never have loved you had I not left Gavin behind and partook in the evils you introduced me to. I may have changed you, Lucian . . .” I look at him from the
corner of my eye. “But you changed me for the worse.”
