I Can't Sleep- A Poem

I Can't Sleep
K.N. Lee

Little men with maracas
Ballerinas twirling
So many thoughts in my head
Swirling
Swirling

They say count sheep
And so I count the sheep
Imagine them rolling down hills
And giggling at poor Little Bo Peep
I can't sleep
I can't sleep

Clear your mind, they say
Ok
Ok
Horns blare
Ghosts glare
And suddenly...
I'm floating through the air

Bells ring
Fairies sing

Pages left unfilled
Stories remain untold
The creases of my frantic mind
Unruffle
And...
Unfold
And suddenly sprout gold

Now I'm really in for it
I open my eyes
Grab a pen
Jot down this poem
The end
The end
